The Schroon Lake Association is engaged in a number of projects to continue our mission of protecting the Schroon Lake Watershed. We hire a certified lake manager as a consultant, contract for scientific studies and surveys of the lake, underwrite the fees involved in CSLAP, annual biological tests of the water, and, in conjunction with the lake's three towns - Schroon Lake, Chester, and Horicon, we are developing a Lake Management Master Plan (LaMP).
To raise funds we conduct an annual raffle. During 2010 we are raffling a Peter Hornbeck Kevlar Canoe. Tickets are $20 each and we will only be selling 200 of them. Not only that, but there is a second prize of $250 cash! This is an exciting raffle and we hope to sell all the tickets. Don't be disappointed that you didn't get one before they are all gone!
We also conduct an Annual Duck Race on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Each duck is identified with a number. Ducks cost $5 each and the first three ducks to reach the lake from their start in Mill Creek are awarded cash prizes. First place wins $100, Second place $75 and Third Place $50. Look for the duck at our events and be sure you get to purchase your lucky number!
For more information, see our pages on
Lake Studies,
CSLAP,
Lake Management Master Plan, and
Launch Ramp Project. These projects are costly and the money to support them comes from our raffles, the Fair and your dues and donations. Donations are always accepted, and may be made as a tax deductible contribution. Please use the downloadable form on our
Membership page for this purpose.
We have a Fund Raising Committee which plans events and raffles that will also generate funds. We could use help and we’re especially looking for people with fund raising experience. If you would like to help us, please contact Linda Milsom at info@schroonlakeassociation.org.
