The questionnaires were tabulated by the Warren County Soil and Water District and the results showed that the respondents felt that the goals of the Lake Management Master Plan should be:
1. To protect and enhance the water quality of the lake (91.8 % of respondents)
2. To eradicate or control the introduction and spread of Eurasian Watermilfoil and other exotic plants (88.9%) and
3. To develop a permanent water quality testing program (81.8%)
The Schroon Lake Association is pleased to report that in regard to the above, our mission for almost 100 years has been to protect and enhance the water quality of the lake. For almost 15 years we have been contributing funds to control Eurasian Watermilfoil and we have developed a permanent water quality testing program which we continue to fund each year. In 2008 we spent $7,800 on water quality testing in addition to $500 for CSLAP tests. In 2009 our CSLAP costs escalated dramatically to over $1,500 due to the reduction of state funds. In addition we funded $6,700 in scientific tests and paid $3,590 on our LaMP contract.
